Aggressive Beagle Mix Puppy

by Melissa C-R
(Moreno Valley, CA.)

My puppy is 11 weeks old and we've had her for about a week and a half. When we got her she was near death from malnourishment. Since she wasn't being fed properly I suspect she was also not treated with love and respect. I believe this has something to do with her aggressive behavior.

When she starts getting playful she bites not too hard but hard enough to make it hurt since she has sharp teeth. When we say No! or shush! she barks back and begins to growl as she continues to bite, only this time biting harder. She shows no signs of fear when we reprimand her, instead she becomes more aggressive. We do not hit her because we know it will only make the behavior worse, however, we're running out of ideas to stop the aggressive behavior.

I don't know what to do. She is Two months old and is mean. one minute she will be fine but then she gets really hyper and starts biting anything that gets in her way. She hates new people and freaks out if they walk near her. She is also constantly using the restroom in the house and she knows better. I've tried everything. I need help!

Aggressive Beagle Bassett Mix 7 Months Old

by Taylor
(Myrtle Beach Sc usa)

Darwin our dog

Darwin our dog

I have a 7 month old Beagle Bassett mix. He is the sweetest dog I've had( towards my husband and i) Big personality and everyone loves him. We have two children ages 6 and 8. Our dog is very aggressive with them. When they try to take him outside and play with him he growls and bites (not nip!) their ankles. Our dog growls all the time. When he is woken up from a deep sleep....if he wants a toy (whether his or the kids). If the kids or myself try and correct him (from jumping on counters....or on back of couches...chewing on the kids toys) he gives a warning growl...we say no in a stern voice and all we get back is a bite...or an attempt.

I'm very frustrated because I nanny out of my home. He has been with these young kids since we have had them...now he is starting to bite at them. Luckily he is never alone with the children so he doesn't get too many chances to bite.

Aggressive Border Collie Mixed Puppy

We have a 4-month-old puppy that gets very aggressive with us sometimes. He gets crazy and run for a minute and then start biting and do some aggressive barking. We say no! we put our hand over his mouth... sometimes we take him by his neck skin where the mom naturaly take them, point a finger at him or we lie him on the floor for a sec to calm him down but that does not work at all. He gets more aggressive with us after this. This last over 15 minutes. He spend the rest of the day acting normal. He is calm and relax. He is not aggressive at all and love receive attention from us loves playing and go for a walk too. I don't understand.

Mix Breed Puppy That Bites Barks and Winges

I rescued this puppy 4 weeks ago and he doesn't act like any puppy I've ever known. He winges constantly, barks at other dogs (an 8 year old pleasant but no push over staff/jack Russell female) but cuddles up with her when he finally runs out of steam. His behavior with the other dog is fairly playful and there is some degree of respect towards her. He bites me and other people and the older dog all the time. Even if I just stroke his head, he'll turn and bite me. If I tell him off, he lunges for my finger. I have brought up 3 puppies and none have behaved like this one. He's about 11 weeks old and was abandoned with his mum and 4 brothers and sisters and is not yet old enough to go out as he still has vac's to get at 12 weeks. The only person he didn't bite was the vet. The problem has been only at home so far. The only thing I can think of is the lack of human contact for 4 weeks from 3 to 7 weeks old. No idea of what breeding mix he is. Any ideas anyone?

Aggressive Beagle mix puppy

by Shelley
(Houston, TX)

My puppy is 8 months - he's a rescue and I am the 3rd family he has had. We are in obedience training, with some progress being made. He does become aggressive with me however. His personality turns on a dime. He will start jumping on me, lunging, really and growls and bites whatever body part he can catch. I do not want this type of behavior from my dog. Can it be corrected?

Aggressive Terrier Mix

by Vanessa Mallon
(Miami, Florida, USA)

I rescued this little girl from the pound a few months ago and at first she was a little shy around the house but once she got comfortable she went wild. Now I know puppies love to play and I understand that a little yelp and nip is inevitable but it has gotten a little out of hand.

My brother loves to play rough with her, but she has seen him now as another toy. She is his dominant and since her breed was made for hunting she "hunts" him down. He tends to literally run around the house and she chases after him and bites him. It's not an aggressive bite but since she is a puppy and she does launch herself at him with her teeth it hurts. She now tends to do this to anyone who is caught unaware. It was cute at first but now it is not and trying to get her to calm down is getting more and more difficult.

Most of my family don't help and make it worst so by the end of the day she becomes a little savage hunting hound and we are her prey. I have had to yell the command "No" so many times in the day that when people ask me a question I just respond that way and frighten them. She does respect me but the respect is slowly dwindling as she gets more and more bolder with her "nips" and "pounces." I don't know what to try anymore. She even ignores my command for "sit" and "stay" which is something she has never done until this week. I am really worried that I am losing her respect for me.

Aggressive Shepherd Siberian Mix Puppy

My 10 month old Shepard/Siberian mixed puppy is very aggressive and will not listen to any commands. We adopted him from an animal shelter and I don't know his past history. He bites and fights with me when I try to put his leash on him and take him for a walk.

While walking he wants to jump up and bite me and chew on the leash. He chews everything he can get his mouth on, everything from flower pots to screw drivers. He seems to be a good dog but his issues are making him impossible.

Food aggressive 4-5 month old pitbull mix puppy

by Julia
(San Juan, Puerto Rico)

Hey, I adopted this dog a few weeks ago, Im actually his 4th or maybe 5th owner now and I have the problem that the dog is aggressive towards his food.

Usually he is very loving and sweet, very sleepy and playful boy, he doesn't show any aggression towards strangers and I trust him enough to let him loose on dog parks to play with other dogs.

My problem is that everytime me or my partner come near his food he starts growling and snaps at times, this frustrates me a lot because we live in a small apartment. I've read a few articles that say taking your dog for a walk before every meal, or eating before the dog might help him associate me and my partner as alphas, but the food aggression continues even after this effort. Other articles advice removing the food away from the dog, but I think that is only reaffirming the dogs fear of us taking his food away.

He is not aggressive towards his toys or treats, only when we are playing that he pulls back his toys and growls a little but with a loud "tshh" he stops doing it.

Any advice?

Is My Shepherd Mix Puppy Aggressive?

by Anonymous dog lover
(Nevada, United States)

We rescued a month old puppy and we think that he may be showing signs of aggression. Whenever I go to pick him up he growls, shows his teeth, and will sometimes nip. Our last dog was very aggressive and we want to know if the puppy also shows signs of it so we can correct it early on.

6 month old Puppy MIX overly excited and over reactive on walks

by June
(Mid Cities Texas)

Sorry for the length of this, just felt you may need a little back ground... We have had little Miss Abby for 2 months now. She is anticipated to reach about 40 to 45 lbs when full grown. She could be lab, pit bull, English pointer or healer (due to the spots), it is anyone's guess. She is crated during the day thru the week but we have been going home at lunch to let her out. We go on walks once a day and play in the house. Unfortunately we do not have a fenced in yard yet so when we are outside she is on a 25 foot lead in the back yard with a padded choke chain and 6 foot lead when walking. We are starting our 2nd week of puppy training in hopes of getting her socialized and for my husband and I to have proper people training.

There are several issues or perhaps they are the same? She is aggressive in her play with other dogs and tends to approach with two front paws and a pounce, for larger dogs that are passive, this is fine and works itself out but smaller dogs it's overwhelming, I am hoping she will grow out of this? The other, she is over reactive with people that come to our home, jumping and won't listen to off or NO jump commands. On walks, Joggers, walkers, bikes all seem to trigger the lunging. She is not mean she just loves everyone and wants to jump on them and tends to nip and pull at your clothes. When I go home on my lunch hour I have to "suit up" w/ an old jacket, etc. She seems to be responding to the reward walking that we have recently been taught. I have decided shorter walks are best for now and may start the, stop and turn around method to manage the lunging. She calms down after a few minutes of "crazy dog" , then she is as sweet as she can be. I would appreciate any tips or guidance.

Aggressive 9 week old mix puppy

by Melissa
(Belleville, Ont, Canada)

My 9 week old puppy "Daffy" has been wonderful the 2 1/2 weeks we have had her, we went on a trip the other day to visit family and she was wonderful. Then all of a sudden the next day when my 3 yr old neice (who daffy is VERY used too) went to take a toy from her and she bite my neice and drew blood.

And then my nephew who she is also very used too, went to go pick her up which she is also very used too and she lunged at his face.

I am hoping because she is a very young puppy I can correct this behaviour but I have no idea where to start.

Please help!

I have a two month old Terrier Mix Puppy, he is extremely rough when playing. He will start off as a cute ball of fur then soon turn into a biting machine, he's drawn blood from my daughter and I both. We can just be sitting around doing absolutely nothing and he'll just jump on the couch and bite the crap outta one of us for reasons unknown to us!. He terrorizes our 3 year old Chihuahua/Terrier by biting his legs, tail and ears. What can we do to put a stop to this behavior?

Aggressive Australian Shepherd Pitbull mix puppy

by Amanda
(Mattoon, IL)

Sadie is 8 weeks old, and she is really laid back most of the time, not a cuddler type of dog. She loves to play, but when she plays she bites, and bites pretty hard. When my kids play with her using a toy, if she gets ahold of their hands, ouch. She thankfully hasn't drawn blood yet, and she isn't being malicious when the bites occur, she's just playing. I know with the pit in her she's going to have some strong jaws when she grows up and a playful bite now can be detrimental later? Any advice on how to correct the issue? I want her to be able to be as rough as she wants with toys, but I want her to know the difference between a hand and a toy. and since I have two small little ones, I'd like her to be gentle with kiddos too.
