Same issue
by: Brooke

But what if you try that, and there is still growing and yapping? I have tried the grabbing of the back of the neck but he just wiggles and refuses to submit. I have an 8 to 10 week old mix breed who showed up at my house about a week ago. His tail was obviously scissored off. No one came looking for him so I decided to keep him. At first he was food aggressive but that issue has been resolved. Now when he gets to playing and I try to snap and correct with a firm NO he tends to keep growling like it's not working. My boyfriend had an aggressive jack Russell who was 10 when I came along. We've been together for 6 years. We just out his Jack down a few months ago due to a brain tumor. I don't want an aggressive dog but I also don't want to him to resent me. I have train3d other dogs and a firm no has worked. I'm at a loss. Please help!

Correcting a puppy for biting
by: Adam G. Katz

Hi, Melissa:

You're going to need to give him a scruff on the back of the neck: Grab the loose skin and give a quick pull and release. What you're trying to do is to replicate how the mother would give the puppy a nip on the neck. You'll know it's motivational (firm enough) when the puppy stops.
