He barks a couple times and runs back into the living room all proud of himself so I can't get to him to correct him while he is doing this. As summer approaches we leave our front door open with the security screen locked, so now he has started barking out the front door while we are sleeping. He doesn't bark for a long time and usually only once or twice a night, but I want to correct it before it gets out of hand. Most of the time he is asleep in his own bed but apparently he gets up during the night and "makes his rounds". I keep his training collar on when I am home and awake. Should I leave the collar on all night and take it off in the morning when I leave for work? No you should never leave a training collar of any type on an unsupervised dog. But, you could either crate him or tether him on a short tether so that he can only sit, stand, lie down and turn around on his bed but can't run off barking but has to stay on his bed for the night.
