Aggressive 4 Month Old German Shepherd

by Kathy
(Stockton, Ca)

We have a 4 month old female german shepherd pup which during the day Monday-Friday left alone for around 7 1/2 hours. When we get home she just cries really loud, tosses her head and bites.

I know it is hard for her being a lone but how do I get her to calm down. She is just so aggressive when we get home and also she doesn't listen to anything I say. She just barks at me. I used all kinds of techniques

Aggressive German Shepherd Mix

by Katie
(Raleigh, NC)

We got Reggie about a month ago, and he is just adorable. He's a Shepherd mix but has big, floppy ears and is fuzzy. Everyone stops to love all over him and he just thinks he is the king of the world. My boyfriend and I have tried to be very diligent with his training. He "sits" and "stays" very well and quickly learned that his crate is his bedroom.

He gets lots of attention and walks and we have tried to let him know that he is not the pack leader. He has to sit and stay before he gets food or is allowed out the door or before he gets a favorite toy. He is not allowed on any furniture and we have moved his crate out of the bedroom. He is usually a very good dog. There are some times though, when it seems like he gets tired of us telling him what to do - especially with the "DOWN" command to get him to lay down.

Occasionally, he will snarl and jump at and bite me - scratching up my arms and drawing blood on my hands. I try to stay calm and give him a firm NO, and the vet suggested holding his mouth closed, and none of these things work. I've tried making noises like he's hurting me (which he actually is) and it seems to just drive him to further aggression.

These episodes are fairly rare, but he's three months old now and growing rapidly. If this happens when he's any bigger, he could seriously injure someone. How can we fix this aggressive behavior?

Aggressive German Shepherd Puppy

by Cindy
(Tifton, Ga)

I have a 3 month old gsd. She playfully bites and I've used every method I've read about... Yelping, putting a toy in her mouth, ignoring her, spraying her with a water bottle, etc. none of these things work. Sometimes she gets aggressive and growls at me and shows her teeth.
What else can I do before this gets out of hand?

I've thought of getting a shock collar although I don't want to resort to that. I have her trained to sit,lat down,go to her room(her kennel) and "off" which works most of the time during her biting but sometimes she gets more aggressive the more I try to get her to stop.

Biting 8 Week Old German Shepherd Pup

by Laura
(Missouri)

My new 8 week old puppy has developed a bad habit of biting me on my hands, arms and feet. I have tried everything from placing Bitter Apple on my skin to grabbing the back of her neck and pinning her down till she submits. I notice that when I pick her up, she seems to get really upset and bites me as well as growl. She doesn't do any of this with my husband. I have also given her a gentle kick when she grabs for my pant leg. I don't want her to fear me, I want her to respect me. I also feel bad after I scold her. I'm at a loss. Her socialization is limited, however, I plan to take her to a facility with other puppies after she has her second round of vaccinations.

Please help me help my puppy!!!!

German Shepherd Puppy, Aggressive

by Krista

Our puppy is 12 weeks old, and we just got her yesterday. She is very scared of other dogs. She will growl and bark at them, and shakes. She also began growling at a woman and her daughter who reached in to pet her while we were in the car.

She has not been aggressive towards any humans, and grew up with four children playing with her. I feel she becomes nervous on car rides, so the car growling may have been her nervous reaction to strangers. If anyone has any advice or thoughts I would love to hear it, thanks

6 month old Dog Aggressive Blue German Shepherd

by Stephen
(Limerick, Ireland)

I brought Paddy (my pup) home when he was 10 weeks old, he had no aggression issues with Kasey, my 5yr old female GSD whatsoever and that continues to be the case, they get on very well together.

At approx 14 weeks while out walking on leash (just me and Paddy) a 2 yr old female GSD who was off leash attacked Paddy, i managed to protect him by pulling him into my arms by his leash (i am not proud to admit), it happened very quickly. This resulted in Paddy getting into a panic and me almost getting into a fight with its owner. Ever since this episode Paddy has greeted other strange dogs with aggressive behaviour.

I have enrolled him in puppy socialization classes for the last 6 weeks and have seen an improvement just within the class using clicker training (place, sit, down, and recall). I try to implement these techniques when on walks but even with a lure i cannot seem to engage him when he spots another dog. Without another dog present he responds very well, traffic, people, children, new places dont phase him. My trainer wants me to put him on an e-collar, but i have been advised to keep up the clicker training with an emphasis towards engagement as opposed to commands and only contemplate putting him on the e-collar at a year old if the problem still exists.

I am thinking of getting him neutered in a week or so (he is monorchid), my vet recommends i wait until he is a year old.

My questions being;

Will neutering earlier make a difference?

Could the aggression have been genetic ie. breeding for colour and not temperament?

Could the aforementioned attack have imprinted on his outlook towards other strange dogs (best defense is an offense) and can it be reversed?

Or could it be a combination of both.

PS, i have a qualified Dog Behaviorist visiting me in the next week or so who only uses positive techniques. My current trainer is a bit more old school in his outlook. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Regards

Stephen Power

play biting or agressive 16 week old german shepherd puppy

by nicole
(auckland, new zealand)

Hey there!

My husband and got our german shepherd puppy at 8 weeks old.

From the get go he was biting which we have tried everything in the book to correct and the only thing that seems to work os when my husband ( the Alpha ) yells NO! very loudly. At first we tried the soft tone and re directing to a chew toy but he was only interested in biting our legs and hands... I would consider these actions play biting however he gnarles at me and barks so to me that doesnt seem playful.

He is also very much like a child in the way of if you tell him no it kicks off the bad behaviour as if to say you cant tell me what to do mom! but when dad comes in he stops, when dad leaves he challenges me again standing in front of me, barking and biting at my legs, wont let me get past him in the hallway. To say the least it has been a huge challenge. my husband assures me that he will grow out of it but im not so sure. Puppy school is out of the question as my husband is sure we can do it on our own. Please help for the sake of my sanity!!!

Agressive Bernese Mountain Dog/German Shepard Puppy

by Holly
(Aberdeen, MD)

Well i should start that we just adopeted her Friday but she seems to nip alot and will noty let us feed or give water to are other dog without jumping and nipping at her. Our other dog is a 5 year old lab who is very senstitive and sweet so she won't growl at her to let her know to quit. Also yesterday i gave them both nylo bones after the new puppy was finished with hers she went over to my yellow labs snatched it and when i went to take it back she growled and would not let me take it out of her mouth.

I have always had Golden Retirevers and Labs and have never been gorwled or nipped at never have seen any aggresiona t all. We also have always adpted at 8 weeks. We lost our Lab mix in March and our other dog has been ver depressed and get so excited when she is aropund other dogs and we have alweays had two so we decided to get one at 6 month instead of 8 weeks. I hope this is just a bad age i feel like im trying everything and i feel terrible for even feeling sad that i got her.

Mixed Retriever and German Shepard Rescue Dog

by Roxie
(Trumbull,Ohio)

When we brought Oliver home he was shy and my guess scared for 3 days we thought that he may have been deaf. He would not respond to anything not even loud noises. At the pound he sat back and didn't act like the rest of the puppies.

He just turned 3 months old, and is pretty tall for his age. We found out 2 days before his vet appointment that he was not deaf at all just ignoring us! He wouldn't go to anyone and stayed to himself at the pound.

He was a very loving and playful pup, he learned so much in such a short amount of time. He is fully potty trained (very rarely an accident, when he does it is usualy our fault) he is spoiled when it comes to toys.

He has become very aggressive in play and when being told no. We have been trying to teach him not to jump up on people, no biting, now when you tell him no he barks and barks this time he turned and bit me!

We have grown attached to him and do not want to give him back but now he is trying to take over who's the boss?

We crate trained him and he does not like his crate much, we are lost and do not know what to do to break him of this, we tried to use
the squirt bottle, he likes it!

Aggressive German Shepherd Puppy

(NC)

Our now 11 week old German Shepherd Puppy, Max, we've had him since he was 5 1/2 weeks old, has been biting, growling, snarling and lunging at us since we brought him home. We've NEVER had a puppy like this; this is our seventh Shepherd and have never experienced anything like this before. He does not like to be told No and often will nip you. He is very high strung so we changed all his food over to no corn, no sugar hoping that would help, it hasn't. He doesn't nap like most puppies, he has an endless amount of energy, regardless of how many walks he goes on or how much play he gets each day he is very hyper. Our concern is the biting, he bites often, he is unprovoked, he will walk up and latch on and he does not like to let go; his bite is getting stronger and his little teeth are like needles. His bites have drawn blood, this is not regular puppy biting, any suggestions would be appreciated.

On a positive note, Max is very smart, he was house broken in two days and learned his commands like sit, down, stay, come, etc. within a week; we were amazed!

Stubborn German Shepherd

by Dean
(Mexico)

I got a german shepherd a few days ago, he is now 9 weeks old, he's pretty smart, I'm potty training him, teaching him to come with a leash and the sit command, I never give him the food before he sits when I command, but sometimes when he sees my mom, dad or sister he goes directly to bite hands feet or whatever he can get, I know pups play that way, but when I try to say no / correct him with a leash sometimes he starts barking at me and growling, he basically goes insane when I try to correct him about the biting.

I've tried everything from popping the leash with a firm "NO" to crying like one of his litter mates he bites me too when I'm playing with him or even if I'm resting lying on the couch, another of his reactions to my corrections is ignore me, he looks at me, sometimes barks one time and proceed to bite my hand, I've read a lot of internet pages and watched a couple of DVDs, but nothing seems to work. When hes eating I try to pet him and he gets mad and growls, I mean he's an 8 week old baby and I'd like to correct that behavior as soon as possible.

MY pup is approx 13 weeks, knows the word NO but ignores it often. He is a high drive pup (super hyper) always biting and when we say "NO" he gets more aggressive and the fur on his neck starts to stand. Tonight we gave him a chew bone and my husband tried to remove it from him and the pup started to snarl and growl and actually try to bite my husband. He thinks we may need to get rid of him but I would love to keep him if we can find a solution. WE have tried everything we could find on the internet and nothing seems to work with this guy. HELP!

I am affraid my puppy that is pit/german shepard is to aggresive with my year old son.

by Summer
(Washington)

I just recently got a 9 week old puppy and have noticed an alarming behavior. She will be laying down or sleeping and my son will annoy her to the point were she bears her teeth growls and bites. I try to keep him away from her during those times but sometimes i dont have enough arms. I have even noticed that he will try to hold her or play "a little to rough" with her and she gets mean and growls and bites. I know what your saying this is a puppy just playing. But she never growls or barks unless she is playing with our other dog. It's also not in a playful manner. It's a warning stay away. I want to keep her and make her a long lasting family member but i dont know how to stop this type of aggression, i also dont want to worry about my son when i am in the other room. what can i do? She will be starting puppy training on Sep 6th. but i need to do something now.

Aggresive German Shepherd Puppy

by Jake
(NSW)

Hi, I have an 11 week old German Shepherd puppy and he is one the smartest puppies that I have had.
He is calm and loving 80% of the time, other times however, he would transform into a completely different dog.
He would aggresively bite my family members and I - bite inhibition (yelping in pain) does not work, and sometimes neither does getting a toy. Sometimes when he goes into this 'frenzy' - because that is what it is - he would lunge and constantly bite and clamp down very hard on hands, legs, feet, ankles, arms etc. and putting a chew toy does not help as he literally ignores the toy, and lunges for the limbs. Saying 'NO' also does not work, as he seems not to hear or see anything except for my arms and legs.
The thing is, is that he would randomly go into this frenzy for no apparent reason.

I don't understand why he does this, and how to prevent and eliminate this behavior.
We've tried giving him timeout then we would go back to him and where he would appear to be normal for about 5 minutes, then resume his frenzy.

I've noticed that his tail is usually very high and slightly curved up, which I understand is a sign of dominance. Please help as I love this dog, and don't want to have to give him up or put him down in the future cause of his aggression.

Aggressive German Shepherd Puppy

My 6 m.o. German Shepherd puppy has always had problems with nipping and biting, but recently, it's been getting out of hand. When I'm in my apartment with her, she will start displaying these aggressive behaviors for apparently no reason. I am currently seeing a dog trainer, but none of her suggestions have worked and I don't think that she understands the seriousness of the situation (my puppy only exhibits these behaviors in the apartment with my boyfriend and I). I have tried time-outs, taking her on long walks to tire her out, taking her on short quick walks to prevent boredom, giving her food, taking her to pee/poop, trying to calm her down, holding her, holding her muzzle (this makes her more aggressive), and rolling her over on her back. What can I do to curtail this unwanted behavior?

(Indiana, USA)

We put our dog into a training camp to get to know the basics. She was and still is trained to know her commands, ie, sit, stay, walk, come, go. But recently she started growling and becoming more aggressive. We had some company over and she was barking like, "she wanted to hurt somebody." But on the other hand this dog is very protective of her family. Any thoughts on how to calm her down?

Aggressive Timber Wolf/German Shepherd/Malamute

by Taylor
(Canada)

6 Weeks Old

6 Weeks Old

My ten and a half week old puppy is, of course, a small bundle of energy. His name is Archer.

So throughout the day we play a lot, I'll take him for walks, and I try to get him out as much as possible. My issue is with disciplining, or more so redirecting his attention. He has what I would assume is a herding instinct, so if you're walking around the house or anywhere near him, he'll nip at your legs. While I do try to initially redirect his attention, he persists and persists. Finally, if I go to pick him up to take him outside with a toy for a break from it, he'll assume it's a game and start running away. Then, just as soon as I turn my back he'll go for my ankles again. He refuses to go for them if I'm facing him. Often times when I do pick him up, he'll start the puppy nipping some more, and sometimes, when I do say "No!" in a stern voice he'll start to demonstrate more signs of aggression (i.e- curled lips, teeth showing, low growling, aggressive biting). On more than one occasion now he's actually made me bleed.

From my understanding, it's often what the owners are doing and not the dog. So if you could please give me some advice on any methods that might help or to give me a better understanding of why it's occurring, I would really appreciate it.. Because frankly, it's very concerning for me. I cannot have him behave this way when he's over 100 pounds. He was weighed at his 8 week shots and was 11kg.

German Shepard and Westie Aggression

by Lucy
(Southampton)

I really don't know what else I can do. Please help.

I rescued a 12 week old German shepherd and I already have a 2 year old and a 11 month old westie.

The 2 yr old has clearly established herself as pack leader but

The problem is with the shepard and the little one. He won't leave her alone. Constantly stalking her, pouncing on her, biting her till she yelps and using his huge body to to hurt her.
I'm so desperately worried for her safety. I'm had the shep 4 weeks now and it's just getting worse.

Please help. How can I help the shep to leave her alone? He wouldn't dare to it to the other westie otherwise shed tell him off big time and he runs away crying.

Why won't the little one tell him too?

Please help.

Aggressive 6 Month Old Shepherd Mix

I have a shepherd mix puppy. We have had her since the end of Julty. She does not like it when anybody comes near her face and will bite aggressively. I have told my kids to avoid going near her face, which is hard to explain to a 6 year old boy, because he loves to hug her. Is there anyway to stop her from feeling threatened when someone puts their face near hers? Your help would be greatly appreciated. She was a rescue from the Humane Society. I'm not sure if having been found roaming has something to do with it. Thank you!

4 month old male German Shepard

by Nikki
(Milwaukee)

We have a 4 month old German shepherd that we are very concerned he may be showing signs that he's too aggressive for our family.

We have had him since he was 8 weeks old and came from a very good breed, he's very smart and has been potty trained since 3 months old.

He seems laid back and sweet but is already acts protective when strangers come to the house (barks at them and back fur stands up) also when we first got him one of my three children who's 8 liked to pick him up but the dog soon learned if he growled she would put him down, the growl didn't sound too aggressive however it was obvious he wanted down.

Now we have noticed when the same child lays by the dog and pets him when he's sleeping he does the same thing, growls at her and even bites her hand (not enough to draw blood) this also happened one other time when he had a new toy that had a treat in it, the same child went to take the toy away and he growled and bit her hand and now tonight my other daughter grabbed a sock out of the dogs Mouth and he growled and bit her (never drawing blood ).

It's strange though because this dog woofs down his food like he's starving and from the beginning we had our kids pet him and even put their hands in his food and he could care less, kids are always taking their toys out of the dogs mouth and are always interacting with the dog and play a lot with him with no problems and my 3year old son has had no problems with him nor myself or my husband we are at a loss and are getting more worried about him, he will eventually be around 90lbs and that terrifies me to think what he could do to one of my children !

She has recently been barking ,growling, and puncturing our skin with bites. Commands like "no" do not work.

We have noticed that punishment makes her more aggressive.
We aren't really in the house very much because of school and work. While we're at home we try giving her alot of attention and play with her but she won't stop making everything into a fight. Is there anything I can do, she is about 2 months now and i understand her teeth are growing but it isn't only that.

Is my GSD puppy aggressive

I have a 3 month old german shepherd and he has started growling and biting when I hold him to correct him or wipe him off with a towel. He doesn't always listen outside and he's biting and growling are growing as he does. At night however he lays on my stomach or chest and starts licking me and then goes to sleep laying on me. He has attended a private training class at 10 wks old and she said I was doing all the right things. My question is my GSD puppy bring aggressive or is he finding his way and playing??

aggressive gsd puppy

by jennifer
(colorado)

Hello we have had our puppy remi for about 3 weeks. He is now 13 weeks. He is extremly jelous already. Meaning i pet my other dogs he runs up and growls nips and pushes them away. I say a firm "NO" and gently push him back and he usually gets it.

The other night i got done playing fetch with our little mutt dog and for no apparent reason he ran up and started a full blown mean fight. Like full blown growling, snarling, pushing and hair up. He was fine in the beginning but it is really starting to worry me. I grabbed his collar and made him lay on his side and brought the other dog back over and made them sit close, and then i led him to a bathroom and left him in there for some alone time while no pats or love were given. Same when i let him outside to go potty.

What do i do?

This is the second time this has happened. He is around other dogs and people a lot. Is he going to out grow this and is there a better way to handle this?

AGGRESSIVE 18 MONTH OLD GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPPY

by DOON
(LIVE OAK, FL)

I RECENTLY ADOPTED AN 18 MONTH OLD GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPPY, HE IS A 93 PLUS POUNDS OF PUPPY. I WAS TOLD THAT HIS ORIGINAL OWNER KEPT HIM IN A CRATE FOR MOST OF HIS YOUNG LIFE WITHOUT MUCH HUMAN INTERACTION AND ALSO USED A SHOCK COLLAR ON HIM. NOW THAT HE HAS 2.5 ACRES TO RUN FREE AND NOT KEPT IN A CRATE HE TENDS TO BE VERY AGGRESSIVE AT PLAY, HE IS EASILY OVER EXCITED AND WILL NIP AND BITE MY HANDS. IT SEEMS TO BE A BATTLE OF WILLS IN THAT HE HAS AN ALPHA PERSONALITY. I HAVE TRIED IGNORING HIM, I HAVE TRIED TIME OUT...I HAVE EVEN TRIED PINNING HIM DOWN TILL SUBMISSION. WHEN I TURN MY BACK TO IGNORE HIM HE WILL COME AT ME AND NIP/BITE AS I'M WALKING AWAY. I HAVE NOT YET TRIED DOG WHISTLE BUT DON'T KNOW IF THAT WOULD EVEN PHASE HIM. MY ARMS AND HANDS ARE COVERED IN BRUISES FROM HIM.... PLEASE HELP!!!!! HE IS A SWEET DOG WHEN HE'S CALM AND IN NORMAL PLAY BUT IT DOES NOT TAKE MUCH TO GET HIM OVERLY EXCITED IN PLAY TO WHERE HE WILL NOT LISTEN. PLEASE HELP...HE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A WONDERFUL DOG IF I CAN GET HIM TO STOP THIS AGGRESSIVE ACTIONS.

THANK YOU

Aggressive, unsociable, separation anxiety with 1 yr old German shepherd/ Rhodesian ridgeback

by Hanna
(Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA )

Dog

Dog

I saved my German Shepherd/Rhodesian ridgeback mix puppy at six months old. He was kenneled for 14 hours a day sometimes longer every day since 1 month old. He was never socialized with humans or other dogs at all. He was also beaten excessively just for tearing things up when he was out of crate. The owner was going to put him in a shelter but when I got word of it I was determined to help him grow in to a well adjusted and loved dog. He is very sweet to me and gets plenty of attention and exercise, but he tries to attack half of the people we run by and all of the dogs he sees. Recently he was on a stake leash outside of my parents during a visit and my brother whom he had never met (not headIng my warnings) tried to play with him while I wasn't around. My pup went straight for his jugular but couldn't reach. I've tried training at petsmart and have been doing all I can to get him acclimated but all the trainer taught me is avoidance and treats for tricks. I'm so scared he will inevitably hurt someone or worse if I don't just keep him away from others completely. The only animal he really gets along with is his best friend (my roommates cat) The most time I am away from him is 5 hours a day if that. What should I do? My family keeps telling me to put him down but they don't see the potential I'm able to see when we are alone or just running wild on my many acres. I don't know what to do. I live in Baton Rouge and have looked up training professionals as far as up to 100 miles away and i can't find anything. I would pay anything to have my dog happy and well adjusted. I want to be able to trust him with people and other dogs. He always comes to me when I call unless we are caught off guard by someone. Help! I want to save my dog from this bf he is forced to be put down in the case that he gets out and hurts someone. I appreciate any helpful criticism. Ask me anything and steer me in the right direction. I love my pooch sooooo much :(

Aggressive 3 month old german shepherd

by Keri
(Ny)

Our vet told us to practice "restraining" our 3 month old German Shepherd roughly holding him for about 10 min at a time. When we do it he becomes crazy. He starts showing his teeth growling and bitting. Once we let him down he's totally fine. Not sure what to do.

Thanks

Aggressive Siberian Husky/German Shepard mix puppy

by Cameron
(Moving to Tacoma Washington)

He will be acting totally fine with me but if he is with my girl friends he will start to bark and whine and he just bit one of them. Lucky she isn't bleeding or anything like that but still. We are trying to have a baby and we aren't sure if he is going to act out like that in the future. He is totally fine with me though. He just gives off a lot of attitude when he is with the girls... Is that normal?? (We have had him for only a few days but we have been exercising him for a few hours a day!!)

Aggressive German Shepherd Puppy

My 6 Month old female German Shepherd Puppy was doing great with her nipping habits and training. But just recently she has been getting more an more aggressive towards me her primary owner. I don't yet know the trigger but sometime when I go to pet her and then face my back and walk away she will bite hard at my ankles. Then when I turn around to correct her she gets even more aggressive and lunges at me while growling. The behaviours that she exhibits are lunging and jumping up to bite my forearms, growling while snapping in the air. I am really worried. She is consistently a very friendly, sweet-natured and very intelligent puppy but randomly has these aggressive bouts and I don't feel safe around her ever since.

CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME? HOW DO I CONTROL THIS BEHAVIOUR?

Aggressive 6-mo-old German Shepherd Female Puppy

by Lorraine
(Delray Beach, FL, USA)

We purchased our German Shepherd puppy from a "backyard breeder" when she was 4 months old. At first she was very reserved and seemed way too serious for a puppy. Gradually she warmed up to our family and became a happy-go-lucky pup; she loves to play, she's affectionate, and sweet. BUT...she barks at my husband when he comes home and has started nipping at him (usually just nipping his clothes). Also, we have cats and our puppy goes NUTS trying to get at them. They are terrified. The worst problem is that she has EXTREME fear aggression toward other dogs. We tried the dog park once and she ran up to every dog, barking and growling...until one dog turned around to her and gave a slight growl. This made her cower and run, all the while yelping like she was severely injured. When I walk her it's the same situation. She comes across as ferocious until a dog starts to put her "in her place" and flees like a frightened rabbit. How can we get her to trust other dogs, get along with our cats, and trust men (specifically, my husband)? Thank you so much for any insight you can give!

Aggressive Rescue pup 11 weeks - perhaps lab/german shepherd mix

by Michelle C.
(Lagos, Portugal)

We had the puppy at 2 weeks and since I work from home, I have always been around to make sure he is fed properly and can go out in the yard etc. He has lots of soft toys and will fetch them if I throw them - but won't give them back. I don't wrestle him for them - just wait til he drops them. He has learnt to sit on command.

So that's all good. BUT he is rarely gentle - so I put that down to the fact he is hyper and can't yet run around outside as he has not has his vaccines. So I spend lots of time throwing toys and playing with him. But he has a really really vicious streak - not play biting, but biting to hurt. Like he is really really cross... so I do what the books say - I distract him and give him a soft toy to play with, but his behaviour is almost unbearable.

He draws blood daily and I am afraid to leave him with my 8 year old son as he goes crazy when my son is in the room - jumping up and biting, biting, biting. He cut his ear, his leg and will back him into a corner until I intervene. My son is no fool, and can get the dog to sit on command - but after about 2 seconds, the dog jumps up very aggressively and bites whatever body part he can reach.

I am feeling so stressed with it all. Oh yes - and my cat, who has been segregated in a separate area of the house, own area for eating and weeing - but has been in the vet for 10 days with severe stress-induced cystitis and is now on anti-depressants. I bring the at home tomorrow but of course the puppy is still around.

Will the puppy calm down once I can take him for walks?

Is he safe?

Is it in his genes?

Any ideas and advice much appreciated -

Michelle

Aggressive german shepherd puppy

by Miriam A
(London )

I have a 12 week 7 days old german shepherd male puppy,
I purchased him from a breeder who deliberately lied to us, said he was use to cats, I have two Persian indoor cats Who are nervous and terrified of him, I've installed baby gates for the protection of the cats, my cats are upstairs hiding underneath my bed and not eating.
Which is a concern of mine.
I've had him for a week now, he's a lovely dog likes playing he's quite boisterous normal for a puppy I guess, he's potty trained which I'm so thankful for, and he sleeps well throughout the night,
Two main problems I have, he's nipping quite a lot and goes for the ankles, also He's getting more and more aggressive towards our cats barks and growls very loudly with a stiff body, yesterday he upset the cat, he can see me through the gate, I was comforting the cat and then went back in to see my dog, he growled and barked at me and was attempting to bite me, I was wondering could it be jealousy?
I really don't know what to do, i've tried playing games with both parties on each side of the gate, with rewarding treats, I thought I was making progress, it all got ruined yesterday
He's terrified the female cat, she hasn't eaten and probably won't trust him again she's been hiding under my bed.
I tried contacting the breeder for advice, he's ignored all my messages and has blocked me..
Also has removed his phone number from his advert.

Can anyone give me some advice....
