8 Month Old French Bulldog

My french bulldog puppy is food aggressive with other dogs in the family , he is also protective of my space with other family members. He is only like it at home , when outside or visiting he is placid.

When he is aggressive he is removed from the situation and Once calm he returns to being a sweet natured puppy, even with dogs or people he has been aggressive with. Any ideas how to stop this behaviour?

I have a 5month old french bulldog puppy who has been fine with my 2yr old son until now!
She firstly started to be aggressive with her food which i currently have under control & she is getting alot better. BUT the past 2days she has nastily gone to bite him once when he approached myself on the sofa & with no warning she just went for him.

This morning he went to get in his toy car & again without warning she went for him & this time caught him slightly on the lip.

HELP as i dont want to have to rehome her but my sons safety comes first!!

Aggressive bulldog cross staff puppy

by Lindsey
(England)

It seems that my dog is aggressive. She goes through a hyper spell where she will do laps of the room and then Snatch random objects up and try to destroy them. I take away object and tell her no to which she snaps at me and tries to attack me and bites.

Water spraying, tapping on the nose grabbing by scruff of the neck all don't work on her it just makes her more agressive. I've also tried distracting with a toy and time out which doesn't wok either as she'll stop for 5 mins and then resume biting behaviour.

She gets plenty of exercise and attention but seems to change into a demon dog for an hour a day and I'm at a loss what to do because apart from that she's very well behaved.

Very Aggressive American Bulldog Puppy

by Nick
(USA)

ok my puppy is a pure-bred 6 month old american bulldog,he has been acting very aggressively towards me and my family. he wants to play a lot and when we start petting and playing in almost no time he starts biting and when anything is done to stop it he gets more aggressive, for example earlier today i was playing with him and petting him when he started to bite me on my hands i told him no, he kept doing it, so i said it again and he calmed down and lied down so i got up to get something to drink and he ran at me and started biting me very harshly and jumping, growling. ive tried too many methods that aren't working please help.

My American Bulldog pup tries to bite me when my partner is out.

by Zara
(Newcastle)

I have an american bulldog and she is fine usually when my partner is around but when he leaves or is not around, she sometimes gets too excited and bites me and when I tell her off, she will go for me but will keep going for me, until I somehow pick her up and put her in cage or somehow distract her attention. Also if I tell her off for any reason, she doesn't like it and will trie bite me etc I think it's a dominance thing but with these being big dogs, I feel fearful already! I've been told to just keep going and telling her off, but I really don't want to be bitten. Any suggestions please? Thanks

My 11 month old french bulldog is becoming seriously aggressive

by d richardson
(west sussex)

We have had my sons french bulldog since he was a puppy. He has become very protective of me to the extent that if my husband comes through the front door he will run and literally jump on me as if to protect me. My husband cant come near me as he will growl and then go for him. He has to be put outside if people come to the house as he becomes very aggressive. I have tried to get my husband to feed him, play with him amd give him treats but he will be alright one minute but the go for him the next. It is becoming a real problem now and im not sure what to do next.

Bulldog Puppy

Hi:

We have a 3 month old female bulldog, Lola. We got her when she was 8 weeks. She was doing the normal puppy nipping etc. and we taught her bite inhibition when playing with us and now she hardly ever bites us during play time but there are times when she doesn't seem to be playing and she seems aggressive.

She started around 9 weeks with my 3 children. She will sometimes jump up at them then start attacking their legs and ankles or just start attacking without jumping up. There is no growling or barking. Ears tend to go back when she is like this. Sometimes this happens during play and sometimes just when they are near her. I have tried to figure out if there is something triggering it but cannot find any consistency with what starts it. Once she starts it the kids get scared and this only makes her attack more. I have to physically unlatch her teeth/mouth from them and I quickly learned that if I let her go she goes right back at them. Now when it happens I have been putting her right in her crate. She has put puncture wounds in all of three kids and cut their skin to the point blood is dripping.

Early on we cut out all aggressive type play behavior with her and we have also tried the yelping, ignoring, giving her a toy, crating her, using a treat to distract her, etc. Then this started happening with other people (mostly kids but a few adults) who are at our house. She does sometimes go after visitors who are timid around her. We had a friend of my sons over (7 year old boy) and Lola was in the backyard and the kids were jumping on the trampoline. The boy came off of the trampoline to get something and Lola attacked him putting numerous bite and puncture wounds all over his legs and we had to drag her off of him. He ended up needing 3 stitches. This was 2.5 weeks ago.

We have had 2 trainers come to the house to evaluate her and our home. They said that she needed more rest and thought she was overtired and overstimulated. They advised us to keep her on a leash at all times and only allow her 20-30 minutes outside of the crate every 1.5 to 2 hours. They also advised giving her bullysticks two times a day for 20 minutes at a time. They didn't think we would see the aggressive behavior if she was rested but if so to put her in her crate as soon as I notice her starting to act up. They also recommended that we leave her in the crate for 30 minutes whenever anyone new comes to the house then let her smell them without them acknowledging her. We have done all of this and she did seem to get better over the last two weeks but she has also been on a leash. Then in the last 3 days after being well rested she has gone after my son, a neighbor and my daughter. She was on a leash so she wasn't able to injure anyone and I put her right in her crate each time. At this point I do not know what to do.

I have corresponded with a vet behaviorist and was told that this behavior is usually fear or anxiety and rarely aggression. She still has a lot of puppy play time and there is normal mouthing etc. but when she goes into attacking it does not appear to be any type of play to me. I know there is something more we should be doing but I just do not know what.

Aggressive 6 month old French Bulldog

by Lyndsey M
(United Kingdom)

Hello,

We have a young frenchbulldog, he is a great dog and he loves playtime etc, as soon as we are outside and around other dogs on the park he becomes nasty and tries to bite the other dogs around the face area and has a very nasty growl.

This is something we want to fix now before it's too late and we want to be able to feel safe letting him off his lead in the park.nis there anyway we can stop him from acting this way towards other dogs. It's usually the high energetic dogs that he gets nasty with.

Thanks
Lyndsey

Hello, my 10 week old English bulldog puppy is like Jekyll and Hyde. For the past week he started to growl shake his butt and attack us I have holes all of my sweaters and bite scratch marks. When he's trying to bite us we always try to put something that is appropriate to bite for an example a toy but that's doesn't seem to work. My six and eight-year-old are now starting to become scared to play with the puppy, which is very sad. My husband and I have never had a dog so we don't know what to do Helpppppp

aggressive oldetyme bulldogge

by track
(nottingham)

I have a 4 and a half month old oldetyme bulldogge called Bowser, and I thought he was learning really well, he can sit, give paws, lay down and roll over. He also walks well on leads and sits and waits at every road. But his biting is getting out of control. He doesn't listen when I tell him off. I have gave him time outs, firm no, when he bites I yelp and nothing if any thing he has a deep growl and bites harder. I try to put him in his bed and he just flops on the floor on his back so you can't pick him up because he will bite me. Any tips to stop this as it breaks my heart....as it makes me really think if getting him was a good idea :-( any help will be greatly received as I love him so much, he is my lil man :-) thank you.

aggressive bulldog mix puppy

by Carolyn
(San Tan Valley, AZ)

I got my first dog ever just a little over a month and a half ago. I am 65 years old and have a 3/4 male English Bulldog mix who is not quite five months old. I got him when he was 8 weeks.

a number of times a day the puppies ears go flat and he starts biting my ankles and feet. When I try to get him to stop he attacks my arms, legs, anywhere and it now looks like I have scars on my arms. Always draws blood. I can't hold his mouth closed to tell him to stop because his snout is short and by the time I try and grab it he has already bitten me and drawn blood. I have tried pinning him down and speaking calmly to him and it just makes him worse.

I love this puppy so much but my arms are in very bad shape and I really don't know what to do. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

His name is Winston.
