Suddenly aggressive 15 yo Jack Russel

Our little has always been a bit of a grump, but in the last month, she has become downright aggressive. She has never gone down the stairs in 15 years; we have always carried her, and she's been just fine about it.

She now sounds like a rabid monster when I try to pick her up. I know she doesnt hear or see well, so I'm careful not to startle her. It doesn't matter; she would take my fingers or leg off if I didn't move quickly.

Any ideas?

Thank you so much for any help!

Susan

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.

All the best,
Adam
