Aggressive Cockapoo Puppy

by Jan

Our cockapoo puppy has been aggressive since day
one. He doesn't just nip he attacks viciously
and rips our skin. If I push his nose down or say
no or try to correct him in any way, he gets worse.

He bites our ankles, he jumps up and tries to bite us. We don't know how to stop this. We have tried ignoring and walking out of the room and leaving him. I have tried scolding him. He has hurt everyone in the house.

We got him at 8 weeks, he is 13 weeks now. He has not improved. What can I do?

Aggressive Persistent 10 Week Old Cockapoo

by Kim
(England)

Our Cockapoo has been getting steadily more aggressive during the past week, originally it was definitely puppy play and if we yelped and removed our attention he would give a lick and then stop. He has suddenly stopped reacting to this method and is totally unphased by it so we have moved on to saying no and putting him into his crate for a minute as soon as he commits the offence, so far this evening he has been in and out of the crate at least 20 times, each time he is given the smallest bit of contact via eye or a stroke his mouth opens and he is off again.

He has lots of chews and different textured toys and balls but chews them for a few seconds and then back on to us again. Our 5 year old daughter can not walk across the room without him snapping and snarling at the backs of her legs, he does the same to my other teenage children too.

Having read your page I think that we should start ensuring our daughter is sitting on the people furniture and not on the floor and also that our older teenage son ceases rough play with the puppy.

Is there anything else we can try? His will is so strong it is really causing me concern.

Aggressive Cockapoo

by Drea
(Los Angeles, CA)

I rescued a cockapoo on Saturday because I needed a companion dog for my 2 yr. old poodle mix. My dog of 17yrs. passed away and my 2 yr. old was very depressed. My poodle mix is 14 lbs. and the cockapoo is 18 lbs and has huge paws. They will start playing around, but soon becomes scary. The cockapoo grabs hold of the poodle's collar and won't let go. He bites the poodle's ears and pulls him across the floor. I physically get involved because he won't listen and then he starts biting my hands when I try to control him. I try to massage him to calm him down. eventually he get's tired and stops. I am afraid he will hurt my poodle (who is very sweet) and I am afraid to leave them alone. What can I do to keep them safe? help...
