is this pup okay?

I just bought a 6 week old german/australian Shepard puppy from someone who rescued her and her 4 siblings from becoming dog fight bait when she was 5 weeks old. She is wonderful and super smart! And strong! She runs up stairs like my previous dogs have done at 4 months. So to my surprise she has had 2 moments where I wonder if she was hurt or its in her blood. I think the trigger is her scruff, she gets playful turn too growly agressive. I went to pick her up and remove her from the situation and she turns into a scary pup. Growls and bites very very hard head whipping every which way to get a handle on what ever is closest to her. Breaks my heart because we later gently pull on her scruff and she whimpers. So I have seen her get upset when she was picked up and didn't want to be...is there hope to keep that behavior away?

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
