Agressive Mal Shi

by Betty
(Montgomery, Al)

I am 70 years old and recently purchased a Mal Shi when he was six weeks old. He has
nipped and bit me from the get go! He puts up such a fight when I try to put a harness
on him. He has never let me just hold him and caress him. He nips at our heels, hands and growls. I fear he will get worse as he grows larger. I wanted a sweet and gentle lap dog that I could get approval to take to assisted living and nursing homes for visits. He is so far from gentle. We cannot control him. What should I do? I love him and want to keep him what in the world should I do?

My husband and I purchased a Mal Shi 7 months ago....she has suddenly developed a terrible disposition....she is passive and lovable a lot of the time but then snaps, growls. and will bite us....we just do not know what to do anymore....she is very unpredictable...We are very good to her....see that all her needs are at our wits end.....

Nothing In Life Is Free

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
