Same situation

Please let us know how you make out. We have a 5 year old labradoodle that we had to finally give away today. Same exact behavior. Early on we were told he just needed to be socialized. So we did doggy day care and play dates. But he got increasingly worse with strangers and on walks with other dogs. Finally he bit a man across the street and a young girl at our front door. His anxiety and fear aggression made me so nervous that I know it only intensified his behavior. I am so sad right now and feel I failed him. We tried many trainers and behaviorists and they always said he was fine, so I can only think it was our fault.

First of all, it is s o good that you want to train together with Your dog, because I believe there is a change of changing him, but definitely You need to work together.

I believe that the training centre or school is a good choice, but you need to go there together with your dog and constantly. Also maybe that way together with teachers You are able to find out the root of the problem, as usually it is possible to take notice of his actions and behaviour while watching him carefully.

I just mention, that maybe the idea of getting a second dog was not so good at the moment. To fix the first dogs attitude and then to think about getting other dog. To correct two dogs is harder than one.

Anyway, keep reminding your dog your alpha, keep doing the simple obedience command at home and also on the walk and hen you get his attention in public with lot of attraction, praise him.

I am also just a dog owner, my pup now is 4 months and he growls to people and the vet and tries to be a boss, we will work it out somehow.

Good luck!

P.S. Sorry about my English

I would invest some time learning about the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach. And then keep a leash and collar on the dog when you're around her and learn to give a motivational leash correction.
