Aggressive household

by Tracy
(Chandler, az)

I have 4 dogs, all rescues and recently found two week old puppies at my work - which we bottle fed and now they are 9 weeks. ALl my dogs are mutts; 1 hound, lab mix, basenji, and Chihuahua type but bigger. My basenji and hound have gotten into random fights maybe once every 3-6 months (please note my hound was attacked by four dogs prior and hurt badly). The basenji is the top dog in the house. Recently the two fought and usually I can put them back together within 30 minutes are they are OK. This time they fought again - open wounds, etc. So now we are three weeks later and I still cant put then back together. I tried with both dogs on a leash but they went after each other again. I would like a nice harmonious household. Can you help?

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
