Aggressive and Bites children

I have a 8 month old Bull mastiff puppy, It belonged to my daughter, She bit my grandson (not a playful bite) in the ear probably if my daughter didn't grab her could have been the side of his face. The dog is at my house now because I have no young kids living with me. When my daughter went to look at the puppy it was 3 weeks old the seller told her the mother was no longer feeding them, so if she wanted to buy the puppy she had to take it then. She immediately took her to the vet where she bought milk based food the vet told her there was no way she was going to get the dog to drink out of a bottle. So any way.She is a well behaved and loving dog at my house she has rules and boundaries. My daughter and her husband unfortunately did not work with her at all. She just has to see kids from age 8 down and it is like a switch is turned on and it is scary she is also like that with certain adults.it is like they trigger something in her memory. She will taunt the adult with this scary look in her eyes and if they get too close she will lunge and bite them. Same thing with children but she really gives no warning (no bark or growl) so my question to you is can she be helped .we are trying very hard to find a one person owner for her without children.I would love to keep her but my grandchildren lives mean more to me than the dogs !! I guess my question to you is do you think she can be trained not to bite anymore? I really would love to keep her but she needs help and I am scared because my grandson is 1 year's old and doesn't fear her still. So if you could please let me know if you think she can be taught or if that is just going to be her nature I would really appreciate it ??

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
