Aggressive 8 month old sprocker

by Lynne
(Whitby north Yorkshire, England)

We have an 8 month old sprocker puppy who has no pad on her front right paw, (burnt badly as a tiny baby on either a heat lamp or pad)before we inherited her after one night with the relative who had bought her. Most of the time she is very loving and a pleasure, however over the last couple of months she has attacked our 7yr old which is a cross between a wire haired pointer and springer who is just the most quiet loving girl you could have, whilst away in our campervan they had 3 full on fights which were horrendous, one over a bowl of water !!! we have been home a week and thought we were getting somewhere, no fight until tonight, and basically after a very friendly day of being laid together and playing.Mia, the puppy flew at Brooke as they just walked past each other in the living room, totally unprovoked, no treats or toys etc, this was another very lively fight which I split up.
we are at the point of no return as our older dog is shaking and hiding away, not good, we just don't know what to do for the best, please help

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
