Hi,
I rescued my pit when he was 11 months old. He had been found left locked in an abandoned car in an urban area.
He and I have moved twice and three years ago I remarried so we went from just the two of us, to a family of five. We also have two other dogs. When we first all moved in together, he was a little "bucky" but no unmanageable aggression. He still knows he is the top dog of the 3 we have.
THe pit, "Kato," is six now.
In March we moved to another house and now it is just my husband and I, and the three dogs. Everyone is fixed, the other two are females both younger than the pitty. There is a mastiff who is two and has been with us since 8 weeks, and another rescue who is 4 and she is about the same size as the pit. Anyway all the dogs seem to get along.
I moved my mother in with us earlier this month--she is terminally ill.
Since we moved into the house, and prior to my mom moving in (as well as after), the pit has begun biting.
He bit two friends who came to dinner (a man and a woman) and then two females on two separate occasions. Today he lunged at my daughter who is visiting. He has known her for years. He has not broken the skin on any occasion.
I don't know what to do, what is causing this or how to stop it. I'm afraid that he will seriously hurt someone or that my only other choice is to put him down. I am surprised that this behavior is manifesting at such a late age.
Please help!
