Aggressive maltese

by Rosa G.

I have a Yorkie female. She is 14 years old. I also have a Maltese age 4. From little my Maltese had a problem with the Yorkie. He wanted all the attention. He growled, but it wasn’t that bad and he grew out of it.

Recently I was given a female havanese. She is such a wonderful pup. She is gentle and very loving. The Maltese and the havanese mated. She had 7 pups. 6 boys and 1 girl. The puppies were born August 8. They are 8 weeks now.

While she was pregnant he became very aggressive with her. Now he has become even more aggressive towards the puppies. He tries to bite them. His behavior has been out of control towards the babies. I have tried everything for him to bond with him.

Please is there any advise in what to do about this situation? I love my pups very much. They are my babies. I cook for them, take good care of them, groomed and spoil them. I kept 2 of the puppies. Everyday I have to watch him and keep him away from them while they are eating or playing. Launches at them and the mother with so much anger .

Please help me understand.

Sincerely

Rosie. From Palm Bay Florida

Nothing In Life Is Free

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
