Very aggressive 4 month old Saint Bernard mix

My puppy, Bentley, is the sweetest thing. Very playful. However, he has a lot of energy and does not listen at all. Also, when my mother and i are going to bed and go to pick him up to put him in his crate he will run away and hide. When i touch him and try to push him closer to me so i can pick him up he gets insanly aggresive and will bite and growl and does not allow you to touch him at all. Almost like he thinks we are trying to hurt or kill him. Hes really out of control when it comes to that time of day or even when we try to clean him if hes dirty or hold him in any way besides being given affection. Anyone care to help with what to do? I feel completely useless and i dont want to be afraid of my little boy.

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
