aggressive four month old
by: Anonymous

i have an aggression problem with my puppy. she bites constantly, won’t listen. i have never had a puppy this stubborn, and i have trained and raised German shepherds in the past. i have tried everything i know to no avail. i am thinking of finding her a new home. i have two other dogs and cats on the house, and they are sick of her aggression as well. they are older dogs, and she is making them miserable. i put her in the crate when she gets too out of control so the cats and older dogs and myself can have some peace.

Puppy biting

I too have had issues with aggression. I highly recommend a humane trainor and watching zak george on youtube, a literal god send. I saw someone used tea tree oil, that is toxic for dogs and not recommended.

I am having the same problems with my 3 month old male goldendoodle! I am relieved to see that I am not alone. I have never had this problem with any other dog I have owned. My legs are so marked and bruised from him biting me as I try to walk. I have no idea what to do when he gets these "aggressive fits" except to put him outside or in his crate. :(

by: Teresa

My golden doodle is 9 wks old, and he is getting worse, I was hoping he would grow out of this aggressive behavior, but after reading all of these posts, I have lost hope, this is making me so sad and I’m always in tears cause I don’t know what I have done or why he is like this. Please someone give me advice 😞

Stop biting
by: Anonymous

I found that my doodle absolutely hated tea tree oil. I started using a drop of it in a carrier oil on my hands and he finally quit biting at them. I also use this on his paws if he starts licking them. It has healing benefits and he immediately quits licking.

Same problem and very concerned
by: Anonymous

I am having the same problem with our goldendoodle. He's 7 mths. old, I feel like I've done everything right since we brought him home when he was 12 weeks - not allowed on furniture, no jumping, no biting, nothing is for free philosophy, walking him etc.. to no avail. He is aggressive towards me, will lunge, bark and bite, even biting me as I try to walk away. This doesn't seem like play biting, it hurts. He will not leave my daughter's Chihuahua alone or the cat and they all live with us. He also can't control himself around my 3 yr. old grandson. I have tried keeping him tethered to me, keep a small leash on him, he doesn't get it and won't stop. He is also crate trained, although I had hoped we could do away with the crate when he was about a year old, like our other goldendoodle, but I'm concerned because I eventually have to put him in there when he behaves like this, since he won't stop. We had a goldendoodle who passed away after 7 years and he was never like this. It was the normal puppy things, chewing, stealing shoes, but never aggression and "talking back". Our dog also does this to my husband and teenage son, but not as amped as he is with me. I'm the one who is with him all day and I am at a loss here as to how to manage this. He is good with the groomer and overall friendly, but he can't seem to pick up normal social cues from humans or other animals. He is big and becoming physically harder for me to handle when he's on the leash and we're walking. We probably have to hire a dog trainer, but I'm not sure I want to go that route, since we've done everything by the book. This dog is wearing me out and I am thinking of trying to find a suitable home for him, however I don't want him to become someone else's problem and potentially harm someone. The decision to place him is really heart breaking, since I have never given up on a dog. I haven't contacted the breeder yet, since our last goldendoodle was from there and we had no problems and I'm not sure how she could help me anyway. Does anyone have any advice here, besides the usual socialize him, exercise, don't act fearful, (he is scaring me, since I've never experienced this). Also he has never been hit but you would think he was by his behavior. Thank you for any suggestions, advice or insight.

My 5 mo old aggressive golden doodle
by: Elly Koretic

I totally relate to your problem. You are describing my puppy to the nip!

I am alarmed to find that now she is actually jumping on me and biting my legs and ankles. She snarls too! I say NO but she gets more aggressive. I seem to be the only one she does this to. My hubby has a very authoritative voice and she listens to him quickly. I must say I take this personally since I am the one who walks, feeds, brushes and trains her. I know I have to be calm and assertive but I do get mad and have to try to walk away! She is definitely a work in progress. I need help!

Motivational Leash Correction
by: Adam G. Katz

Hi, F. Smith:

I would invest some time learning about the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach. And then keep a leash and collar on the dog when you're around her and learn to give a motivational leash correction.
