Growling
by: Anonymous

When he is growling are you petting him to calm him down? I heard it best on a video "How to train you to train your puppy" they are not toddlers they are dogs and need to be treated as such. Petting them reinforces the bad behavior. Picking them up also leads them to think they are equal to you dogs stay on the floor. Good luck having a dog you cannot trust is awful.

Us too!!

The same thing is happening here. We just got a 10 week old puppy who was very calm and docile and yesterday started growling and showing aggression to my kids who are 9&10 and very calm and quiet with him. We are all very very sad that they can't pick up and cuddle the puppy. Ready to send him back as its getting worse. So unhappy cause I didn't expect it from this breed. Help??

Stop Goldendoodle Aggression
by: Adam G. Katz

Really, you have a human-issue, not a dog issue.

That being said: You can experience a 100% turn around in the dog's behavior in about a day and a half. Here's what you need to do:

1. Learn how to establish a proper relationship between you and the puppy. This is a dominant, working dog breed. And you (and your family) need more skill to deal with this dog, than you would with other dogs.

2. You need to learn how to give a meaningful correction, so that your "No" command is both understood and has meaning.

Get a prong collar and a six foot leather leash and learn how to correct your dog in a safe and humane manner. I can guarantee that you'll see an almost immediate, dramatic improvement. Check out DogProblems.com to learn more. (You can click on the banner, at right).

And finally: Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.

I go into how to do this in my book, Secrets Of A Professional Dog Trainer ...
