Suddenly Aggressive Bulldog

We have a 2.5 year old English Bulldog we have had since he was a puppy. All of sudden (for no reason we can figure out) he has become aggressive toward me when I approach him while he is sitting on my wife's lap. He never did this before. Now he snarls & growls & warns me to stay away. Obviously, we want this behavior to stop and we are afraid he might also try to bite.

We have said 'no' and put him in time-out, but it doesn't seem to have helped.

Again, this is out of the blue & we are at a loss of how to proceed.

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
