Aggressive Boston Terrier Puppy

I have a very adorable Boston Terrier puppy that was given to me and I am not sure if she is just scared or has been mistreated, but any stranger or lawnmower, vaccum cleaner she just hates and tries to bite. What can I do to get her to stop this behavior? She is 11 months old.

Mouthy Border Terrier

Our 8 month old male border terrier isn't aggressive, but he has always been fond of biting my hands and ankles. (I'm Mum and the only female in the house, he doesn't do it with the boys or their Dad)I thought it was play but he doesn't respond to my 'No' anymore, he just gets worse until my husband says NO then he will stop.

I want to break this habit, my response after a couple of commands to stop, is to pick him up and put him outside, ending the 'game'. I'm trying to be consistent but so far not much by way of progress. He isn't castrated but that is something we are thinking about now, since he also humps my leg a lot too of late!

Aggressive Rat Terrier

by Kenni
(Florida)

So tomorrow I'm getting a 7 week old baby pitbull from my boyfriend this puppy is the most adorable and playful puppy you can ever meet however I have a rat terrier who we have for a few years when we first got him he was so sweet I guess we spoiled him barely trained him to respect anyone we never had a problem with him peeing everywhere or anything like that he potty trained quickly and he knows when he does something he isn't suppose to since now he's old enough it's kinda late to train him to be respectful he only respects my dad the thing is he's aggressive he doesn't like anyone near his food always growls at everyone in the house expect my dad he's always barking once someone comes over to visit even if he knows the person to the point it gets annoying he's jealous and just a brat once in a while I see his sweet side he's like my brother basically but I'm scared that he might bite the puppy if he gets near his food and I don't want the puppy to pick up these habits espically being a pit so what can I do to prevent my dog attacking the new puppy I don't want him to be jealous of him either

Aggressive Yorkshire Terrier Puppy

Hi,

Baxter is 9 weeks old. He is very nippy and when he bites my fingers I was told by the breeder to put my finger in the back of his mouth and block him. This tends to make him very angry. He then growls and goes into a little frenzy. Biting my hands and twisting to get out of my arms. I decided to hold his mouth closed and sternly say "no" . It took several times but he seemed to accept my authority. Was this the right thing to do? I don't want him to fear me. He went right to his crate and laid down. He then seemed to be ignoring me. I took him out a couple if times to handle him and praise him for not biting anymore. I have a 6yr old boxer and she never questioned my authority or acting aggressive. Can he be trained?

Boston Terrier 16 week old puppy

by Kathleen G
(Liverpool)

My pup is so loving and friendly with us her family. However sometimes when where out walking and a stranger goes to stoke her she cowers and goes to nip, sometimes she would yelp. I feel she is so weary of other people but I have found after 5 minutes of them actually coaxing her she then becomes playful with them. I would hate to think of her nipping a child if my back was turned. Please help.

Aggressive Wheaten Terrier- 11 weeks old female

by Mary
(Canada)

My puppy goes to nip at my face when she does not want to be picked up or when I go to hold her. Why is this? I am gentle and nice to her but yelling OUCH does not work with her. She is independent and will simply go on to play with herself. She also never tries to play with me. I am always the one to engage in play! I tried leaving her alone for a day and she quite liked it. It is only when we are outside that she bounces around, chases me and wants to play. She loves meeting people and tries to play with every dog insight, but she seems not to like me. When I first got her, she flipped out one night and started biting and nipping at me so I flipped her gently on her back and held her until she stopped squirming. This took 15 minutes. I wonder if this messed her up and made me hate her. I did what the breeder told me to do... Which makes no sense at all. I am a gentle person and I cried afterwards!!!! I felt so bad and still do. Also at 8 weeks, there was one night where she lunged at me to try to steal my human food. She bit me and I got mad at get and ignored her. I try to pick her up a lot, I admit and she likely hates me for it. I just want a dog that is sociable and can be around kids as an adult!!' Advice please! I am so worried about her. I am trying so hard but end up wrestling with her not to get bit when I go to pick her up. It is important to note that she has not broken skin other than for a few minor scratches. She also never managed to get my face when she went to nip. Sometimes she grabs my arm and slowly goes to bite down until I say ouch at which point she clenches and does not let go. Sometimes she even starts shaking her head. Once again- only scratches and teeth marks. I do not excuse her behaviour and wonder if she is sick in the head.

new adoption - aggressive terrier

by Hannah
(Wi)

I just adopted a terrier mix who is about one year old. he was a stray and then adopted for a month and brought back to the shelter. He did really well the first night. The next morning i fed him, took him for a walk, and then we were inside playing. without a moments notice he started barking at me and biting at my ankles and feet. i tried to tell him "no" in a loud voice and turn away but he just kept biting. I then tried to walk away and ignore him but he followed me and continued to bite my ankles and feet. the episode went on for about five minutes. He did the same thing today as we were playing. he doesnt listen to me when i say no. I like to think he is just playing but he is very aggressive, and i cannot distract him with a toy or even by saying "lets go outside" he nearly bit through my shoe today. Not sure if this behavior is trainable or trauma from his past. I'm afraid if I have someone over he will do the same to them.

Aggressive wire haired terrier

by Wendy M.
(Edinburgh)

Pedro

Pedro

Pedro is my 17 week old puppy who we adopted from Cyprus. He is an adorable, intelligent and playful wee boy however more recently he's been picking twigs up from garden which could splinter in his mouth so I try and retrieve them in several ways including diversion tactics with treats or toys however at times I have to remove them and he snarled, growls, snaps hard and bites. It's making me afraid to challenge him as it's clear he is dominant over his found items. The funny thing is he isn't like this with his toys as I can play with them quite the things. How do I manage his behaviour? Cheers Wendy (from Scotland)

vicious jack russell cross terrier

by Tricia F.
(Mbabane, Swaziland, Africa)

My dog has been hand reared since 5 weeks old, as his mother died in childbirth and I took care of him once he was this age. He gets very vicious if I try to touch his collar...he will jump up and grab food, and if pulled away he will turn and bite, sometimes really nastily. He is difficult to then either put in his pen or in a room, as I can't touch his collar (an afraiud to( I am thinking I may have to give him up, as I can't handle this much more. But he is a lovely chap and can be so sweet. He is now 6 months old, and I am afraid that when he is bigger he could do me or anyone else a serious injury. HELP
