Boxer puppy being very dominant

Hello we have a boxer puppy called Bruno who is nearly four months old. We got him at 7 and a half weeks old from a breeder. Basically, he jumps up mainly at my husband and he bites his hands, trousers etc but when my husband tries to redirect him he growls and has hurt a few times.

We have tried grabbing his scruff firmly saying no and also putting him for a time out into the kitchen with a stair gate on. I walk him twice a day. I give him loads of attention and so he has plenty of love and playtime. We have young kids so I am scared he is agressive.

When walking him, he turns around and bites his lead...I know a lot of dogs do this so I just say leave it and he carried on and on and I literally had no control when walking him so I tried to ease the lead from his mouth and he bit my hand clung into my sleeve of my coat with his teeth and growled really loudly and to me it did not sound playful. I felt completely intimidated. When he acts like this its seriously as if he just switches and goes crazy. I sit and feed my baby and he jumped onto the sofa and onto him. When I pushed him down gently he bit my arm and growled...he jumps up and snaps. He doesn't do it to the children but my god I pray he never will. People keep saying oh he's young he knows only to play but I know he is trying to dominate :( he goes obedience classes and they just tel us to ignore him when he does it but I dont think its working. Please help

Maybe Aggressive Boxer Pitbull Mix Puppy

by Alexandra
(Texas )

I just got a boxer mixed with a red nose pitbull and he is a month and a week old. He is fantastic, he potty trained very quickly , and sleeps a lot. But sometimes when I try playing with him he tends do get over excited and starts growling and biting at me that sometimes it seems very serious and I'm getting concerned that it might be signs of aggression and will be aggresive in the future .

How can I train him to not bite at anything he sees and mostly my hands and clothes very harshly?

My boxer is aggressive

I have an 8 month old boxer that loves other animals, other people and is just so friendly . Always has to be around me when I'm home he is very protective of me at home. I only am concerned because now he is being agressive and he will bite only my hands, when I smack him he gets even more mad but his tail is still waging and sometimes it hurts he puts black and blue marks on me. It is only at night when we wind down he just goes for my hand, almost like he doesn't know how aggressive he is being. He is very friendly otherwise, he is not neutered they told me to wait until he is a year old and it just got a little worse. Could this be because he is not neutered? I need help because I don't want him growling like he does with me .

Thank you!

Boxer puppy 3 months old

by Sarah
(Tampa fl )

I recently bought a boxer puppy. And I also have a golden retriever that is six years old. When they're playing out in the backyard her hair tends to stand up as if she's being aggressive. Is this a sign that she will be an aggressive dog or is she just playing? If she is being aggressive what should I do?

aggressive boxer puppy I just got

I have a 12 week old boxer who I just got two weeks ago. When I first got him all he wanted to do is lay around and just kiss on you. I noticed when he would pee he would whimper so I took him straight to the vet. They told me he has a uti. So they put him on antibiotics and I guess he's feeling better cause he's been running around playing but he keeps bitting and snapping at everyone. He snapped my son in the face he was licking him then just snapped . So when he bites I point and t tell him no, no bit and he gets mad and starts growling and snapping more. How can I get him to stop. Also he will just use the bathroom everywhere he will also lay in it. Please help.

Aggressive boxer/bird dog

by Hannah
(Saint John)

When we got our puppy he was sweet and followed us wherever we went. When left alone he seemed to go insane and it sounds like he's screaming. Just recently he has began biting us and sounding very vicious when correcting his behaviour or picking him up to bring him inside because he wont come on his own. We are not sure what to do with him because his biting is becoming out of control.

Questionable aggressive Boxer puppy

by Johnson
(Indianapolis IN )

We have a 9wk old boxer puppy. We got him last week from a litter of 10 puppies. Our puppy is usually happy and calm except on certain occasions he will snap and try to bite. My father who was holding our puppy on his side almost got bitten when he tried to take the dog outside. Puppy did not want to go outside I guess and he resisted and tried to bite my dad. It also happened when my brother was playing with him. He was holding him face to face and he just snapped and tried to bite his face. I had the same encounter. I was holding the puppy and I had him face me and all of sudden he growled and tried to bite my face. And yesterday when my sister-in law was holding the puppy like a baby for few mins and all of sudden he snapped and bit her nose.

Our family is concerened about our puppy's questionable temper. He does so good and all of sudden he will snap. We still can't figure out what the trigger is but from what we gather it's when he doesn't want to be held. But he shouldn't be snapping like the way he does and he gives no warning signs. He just goes for it. Our previous boxers were very gentle and we have never encountered any sort of aggression before. We are not sure how to handle this situation.

Is our puppy considered aggressive? and if so how can we break him of his aggression?

Aggressive 4 month old Boxer puppy

by Mary
(Texas)

My 4 month old puppy Boxer is very hyper and aggressive. He always wants to bit me when I try to pet him and when I try to correct him he starts barking and growling at me. How can I get him to listen/obey to stop what I don't want him to do. He also always bites my son shoes/feet all the time, even when I get him away from him, he goes back to his shoes/feet again. I end up plaing him in his kennel and I don't want him to think that the kennel is a punishment. Please help me?

My puppy is a boxer mix girl . I got her at 5 weeks. She doesn't not have her shots. She is 7 weeks. At first she was kath argue and didn't want to do anything so the vet gave her some vitamins and iron. A week later today she made me bleed when she but my hand. My puppy growls and barks and then begins to want to bite almost if she was snapping at me. I play with her toy but she doesn't like it and it's for biting. I give her a chewing bone and she won't take it. Is this a sign of aggressive behavior? Any suggestions? Advice?

Aggressive boxerpit puppy

by Alyssa R.
(San Diego CA)

My puppy is a boxer pit bull mixed and I know pit bulls have a reputation of being aggressive and mean and I do not want my dog turning out that way, she is 1 month and 2 weeks old. She just started being aggressive, biting people feet, hands & face. Not playful bites they're pretty hard. Is this a puppy stage or what can I do to prevent her from being an aggressive dog ?

3 month old boxer gets aggressive at end of play

by Harry H.
(UK)

We are a two adult household (No kids) and have an 11 month old boxer dog (Connor) and a 3 months old boxer bitch (Chloe). Chloe is a normal puppy who loves to play and generally only mouths. In all other areas she is a normal puppy who is training well. She has a cage where she eats and sleeps and seems very happy in there.

However, when we need to stop play or put her in her cage she becomes very aggressive. She has now drawn blood twice on me, something Connor has never done.

What are we doing wrong and how can we stop it?

Aggressive Boxer Pup

by Gilbert
(Texas)

My son is 5 and our boxer is around 4 months old. We got him a dog to be his best friend yet when they play it usually ends with my son being bit. Nothing serious as of yet never has broken skin but has left marks. Our boxer tends to growl and try and nip at my sons feet. We firmly tell our pet NO but does not seem to work. My son loves to play with him wrapping himself in his blanket and rolls around the floor. The play at first is friendly to a point then starts to get more aggressive. Growling and then nipping at him. Ive noticed he growls and try's to bite at the wheel of our trash can, and pillows. Im not sure if its connected with the two. I really want our dog to be my sons best friend but seems like its his brother all ways fighting eachother. Also to mention our dog doest not growl at my wife's feet or mine. Please help!!

Aggressive and Noisy 12 Week Old Boxer

by Brooke
(New Zealand)

Hi there. I would love some help!
My 12 week old Boxer puppy, although so gorgeous and cuddly when tired, has started to become aggressive with me and my partner during the day time. I feed her well, play with her, even take her for walks to the corner on her lead. A long story short, she isn't short of attention and love. She has a yard to play in all by herself but with lots of toys, often having myself or partner go out and play with her.

During the day when I am working from home on my computer, she will randomly just barge up to me and start barking loudly in my face. She growls and generally sounds extremely aggressive, and today, after I failed to even retaliate or look at her in hopes she would leave me alone, she bit my face. It was painful and it's happened again this afternoon. She has grown very bitey and latches on hard.

I'm so worried she may do this to a child and although it doesn't hurt us enough to draw blood, I'm not comfortable with her behavior or why she's doing it.

Please help!

Brooke

Aggressive Pit-Boxer Mix Puppy

by Greg O.
(Philadelphia, PA)

I rescued this puppy at 10 weeks old. He was taken from his litter when he was a few days old because the dam was killing her young. He was bottle fed and given his proper shots before I got him.

At 12 weeks old, he consistently nips at hands and toes. I've tried the firm NO, clamping his mouth shut for 2-3 seconds, walking away to ignore him (but he clings on and tries to follow), grabbing him by the neck as his mother would, pinning him on his back and holding him until he stops moving with an authoritative NO. ALL WITH UNSUCCESSFUL RESULTS. I have not tried spraying water yet...

I have exposed him to many people and he is enrolled in a puppy class, but I am worried what the future may bring because of the fact that he was taken from his litter so young.

Please help!

Aggressive boxer puppy

by Brittany
(Spotsylvania, VA)

Three weeks ago we brought home two boxer puppies. They are from different breeders. The female is 10 weeks old and the male is 12 weeks old. The male was already neutered when we brought him home. He had an umbilical hernia and they neutered him during the corrective surgery. Over the last week I've been having trouble with the males attitude. He's very sweet and loving, but he gets really angry. The first time I wrote it off as he was over excited because it was while he was playing with the female, but now it's becoming more of an issue. For example, he wants to sit with you and it paws and head are resting on your leg, but you need to get up to do something. Even if he is awake and aware you are about to gently move him off of you he will begin to snarl, show his teeth, and clamp down on any part of you he can grab including your face. Now I'm very use to puppies being puppies, but his playful puppy bite and growl are completely different than this snarl and this latch on and not let go. This does seem to happen a lot when he's worn out which would make sense, but still not acceptable behavior. Unfortunately, it's not the only time he will act like that. Sometime we he's playing with our female he seems to get pissed off suddenly. It doesn't hurt or upset the younger female because she's more outgoing and doesn't let him push her around, but he's bigger and he's going to continue to be bigger and stronger than her and I don't want them to have issues with each other. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've raise many puppies, but I've never had to correct an issue where one was moody or aggressive and I don't really want to label him aggressive, but I can't have him grow up and act this way towards people or other animals. Also, he's not aggressive around his food or toys. We have two older dogs that he gets along great with so far. This issue seems to be when he's nudged or moved and sometimes he's not tired or worn out at all and begins to act this way.

Aggressive boxer

Our boxer is now 2 years old, and we haven't had time to socialize him well due to us having to do alot of remodeling around the house during his first year, and now during his second year we've been introducing him to new people. He gets along with everyone in the family and close friends very well, and usually adults have no issue walking up and petting him ( although he looks kinda shy and pulls him head down). The worst he's ever done to an adult is growl. However with little children it's a different story. If a little child wanted to come up to pet him, he would snap, and the worst situation of this was luckily with a family my half brothers son, where the dog lunged at a small boy and luckily nothing major happened. I fear that this will end up happening to someone who is not family and we end up getting sued for something like that. It dossapoints me to see him act like this knowing he is the most loving fun dog to us more close to him. He greets you in the morning with a wagging butt and lots of licks, and loves playing. Why is this happening and how can we prevent it?

I am I'll with medical problems have been since before he got dog. Please can you tell me Wat I or we can do as my kids can't go outside anymore to play without her biting jumping scratching them and pouncing . she sleeps outside under my bedroom window and follows me outside as im walking inside my house and shes outside wherever i go in my house.. Any advice would be great as I'm personally not a dig or animal person due to being bitten as a child so I really can't understand why she does this. Thanku..

Aggressive or not boxer puppy

My puppy Brutus is a 12 week old boxer. He has recently started attacking my husband and I and by that I mean biting at us hard. We think we are doing the right things, telling him No, putting a chew toy in his mouth, yelping loudly, walking out of the room...etc. but when he gets in his "mood" none of those things will deter him and he just keeps coming at us. We feel like he gets plenty of exercise, 2 walks a day, lots of play time with toys and in our back yard during the day. The only thing we can figure is maybe he's tired and fighting sleep?? He does sleep 8-9 hours a night without getting up and takes several naps during the day. He does sleep in his crate at night but I let him nap in the living room during the and it is not always sound sleeping (if I walk out of the room he gets up or puts his head up). Other than this he is the best dog ever. Any advice would be appreciated!

Very aggressive boxer puppy

by Trisha
(Wisconsin)

my boxer puppy is 11 weeks old and can be very sweet and I do have training on a great start as far as walking on a leash, the commands come and sit, and potty training is going great, he even knows his name. My problem is with any redirecting him when he gets to rough with his "puppy biting/nipping" he gets extremely aggressive at times. The biting and growling and with trying to attach is becoming very alarming to me and my husband. I have trained many puppies and I have never seen a puppy this aggressive. We've been trying the loud NO, a loud/high pitched yelp, redirecting with a bone or chew toy, time outs. I want to get this under control before it gets even worse than it already is... please help

Shepherd boxer/ Aussie mix puppy

My puppies 5 months old and super loving and extremely playful , insanely intelligent however he gets in these modes where he gets so completely out of control, racing thru house, barking and sgressively nipping at you. It literally comes out of the blue. He shows those real serious angry teeth and growls like crazy and barks at you. Then continues to run thru the house bk and forth trying so hard to antagonise you. I've just never see puppies get so fast out of control completely unprovoked . Nothing at all calms him. I sometimes have to put him in a seperate room just till he calms down. He will run around nipping everyone in the knees, elbows etc. lol. But just have to say though yes much of it does just seem like playing and I also can tell he does this at a time where most bored. And I can se he def. just needs to get out and run off steam. However I don't believe he should be allowed to do this. Truly see what seems to be a very aggressive way when he shows the real mean teeth. Any suggestions?

Boxer Pit Bull Mix

by Trisha
(Indiana)

I have a 6-7 month old pup. She attacks us constantly. We try the whole ignore her and turn your back on her but that seems to make her attack more. She jumps and bites our arms and hands. She bites our ankles and feet. We have tried everything to get her to stop. I know she is most likely just playing but I'm not sure how to get her to understand that her bite hurts us. She does good with commands like sit, down, come etc... but when she is attacking one of us she will not listen to anyone. She also does not like the word No. When she knows she has done something wrong she barks and attacks when one of us is trying to correct her. Just wondering if anyone has any advice?
