Rescued Dachshund with Aggression Issues

Hi, we recently adopted a 6yr old male Dachshund who was rescued from a puppy mill, very sweet and loving little guy. We currently have an 8yr old female Great Dane and a 3yr old male Dachshund in our home, both sweet dogs. They have been getting along fairly well but within the past week, the new doxie has shown some signs of aggression towards the Dane, nothing triggering such as food or a toy, but it starts with a growl and then he charges at her. Luckily we've been able to stop him before any damage could be done. Can you explain why this might be happening and what we can do to help all pups get along happily?

Thank you!
S. Mahowald

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
