english shepherd

We are an older couple and just had to have our wonderful border collie put to sleep. We then bought an english shepherd pup - he is now 11 months old - we have had him since he was 6 weeks old. He wants to bite - me in particular. When I take him for a walk he will bite the leash and then me. He is quite strong. He has been to obedience training and did very well in class but was a different dog at home. I am at wit's end. What do I do to stop this behavior?

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
