Hello! My rott pup is very aggressive.

When I free him from the crate to play with, he always runs around biting objects and won't listen to me! To include always biting my feet and hands. How can I stop this rottweiler puppy aggression?

When to start
by: Adam G. Katz

I typically start formal obedience training (with the collar) at around 4 to 4.5 months of age... when you see the adult teeth start to come in.

Aggressive Rottweiler Puppy
by: Kris

Hello.

To me it sounds like totally normal puppy behaviour for this age.

They discover the world with their mouth and teeth, plus have you trained him to listen to you?
If you tell him to stop biting, does he know what you mean by NO?

Also I think it has to do with how much time you have to deal with him and let him out of crate?

Anyway, don't worry just yet, puppy biting hands and legs and all the moving things is normal, just keep it under control, and tell NO when the biting gets harder or hurts you.

Even when the bites are not so hard, don't let him chew on your hands even as for playing, take his chewing toy and put in his mouth, this way correcting him and letting him know, on what he can chew.

Also keep in mind to avoid doing all the things you do not want him do later, for example jumping on you, bend over and pat him or say hello.

Firmly but not harshly say NO to hands biting, just for him to learn from puppies age not to bite even when playing. And for obedience I started with my German Sheppard puppy when he was your puppy's age also simple commands like sit, down, come and get my puppies attention when calling his name (teaching puppy his name).

If this is your first puppy, try to find some information in books or on the internet. As a Rottweiler is a lovely dog and a very cute puppy, when they grow up they need to be teached and disciplined.

Anyway, as I said, no worry's until now, he is just a playful puppy and believe me, all the puppy's behave that way. Be sure to spend enough time with him, playing and exploring, he will be a big dog and he needs to move and exercise:)

Enjoy Your puppy, who really is a cutie..

2 months and 7 days
by: Johnson Wong

Thank you for your advice sir! He is 2 months and 7 days from now. What exactly is the month that I should use the training collar of my puppy? So that I can start to train him. Thank you so much! More Power! Godbless!

Puppy Biting
by: Adam G. Katz

Hi, Mr. Wong:

You haven't said how old your dog is, but judging by the picture I'd guess 7 weeks?

At this age, you just want to redirect the biting with a toy. If he gets over-the-top too rambunctious, then put him in the crate until he calms down.

When he's older, you can use the training collar and tab to correct him, but more likely this is just puppy behavior that he will outgrow.
