Aggressive miniature dashund

by Laurie
(Ontario)

I have a 9 week old puppy that is very little. We got him at 6 weeks and in the last two weeks he has become aggressive. When you pick him up to take him outside or to bed ect. He growls and bites until you put him down and try to scold him. If you say no he gets louder and more aggressive. If you try to scruff him he also gets worse. I am afraid we are going to have a little monster and don't know what else to do to stop it. We were crate training initially and I feel that he associates being picked up means the crate even when that's not so. He really hates the crate and even though he has been with us three weejks he still cries when he is in the crate. Please help me?...

Nothing In Life Is Free

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
