Aggressive Husky

by Brittany Chafins
(Ashville, Ohio)

I have a 9 month old rescue husky Luca. He is great in the house and good with people and kids...but he has a real problem with other dogs.

If we walk past a dog on our walk he lunges and growls, he will keep pulling, jumping, and growling until I can get him out of sight of the dog. I take him when I walk my daughter to school and even though he is wonderful with kids if there is another dog there I become afraid to let the kids get to close because I don't know what he will do.

Please help!!! He is such a great dog but I am loosing my mind. My neighborhood has a lot of dogs. He has a lot of energy and needs long walks but it is hard when we pass about 10 dogs per walk.

Walking A Dog On A Loose Leash
by: Adam G. Katz

Hi, Brittany:

I don't think this is true aggression, but rather a symptom of not walking the dog on a loose leash. Once you learn a technique for walking the dog on a loose leash, you'll see the majority of this disappear.
