Aggressive Golden Retriever

by Katie
(Cincinnati)

I just recently adopted a 6 year old golden from the SPCA.

I've had her for almost a year now and she is usually the sweetest, loving dog who loves attention. But if she has a toy in her mouth, food in her bowl or if I try to get her to move from where she is, she is downright nasty.

She has bitten me twice since I adopted her and I'm sick of it. She has dominance aggression and it needs to stop, but I don't know how!! Please help me!

Nothing in Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Hi, Katie:

I would invest some time learning about the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach. And then keep a leash and collar on the dog when you're around her and learn to give a motivational leash correction.

Adam G. Katz is the author of, "Secrets of a Professional Dog Trainer!" -- which you can find at DogProblems.com.
