Aggressive border collie 5 months old

I just started Willow in a companion 101 dog training corse, our first week was a one on one to see how she worked and how she was with the trainers dog...everything went fine. Our second week was last night and it was a nightmare we have a 12 week old female German Shepard puppy in the class the trainer tried to introduce the two dogs slowly, and Willow went crazy... She started barking, pulling on lead trying to get to the puppy she was so aggressive with her pulling it didn't matter she had a chain collar on, I had to stop her and put on her gentle leader head collar it stopped the pulling but the barking and snarling was awful...I don't know what to do ...she had a few minutes for me to get her to settle down or we will have to leave class and go on a one on one....how do I break her of this so we can do different things. Like agility, or fly ball, I'm afraid to take her around any other dogs...thank you for any information you can give me....Judy & Willow

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
