Aggressive Black Lab Barks And Nips

by Donna
(New Jersey)

Smokey doesn't leave me alone.

He is a black lab about 11 months old. He barks and nips at me when I try and sit and do some paperwork or anything else for that matter other than preparing food. Then he sits quietly and waits. We don't feed him from the counter, we put scraps in his bowl.

He doesn't bother my husband as much as me and my daughter. He also gives us a hard time getting into his crate. He bites the choker collar so we can't pull him.

Smokey is a beautiful dog except for this one traight.

How do we stop him from reacting like that?

A Better Training Collar
by: Adam

What you're going to want to do is: Buy and learn how to properly use the pinch collar. This will allow you to correct your dog in a manner that is meaningful. The choke chain collar is very difficult to give a motivational correction with. And it requires more "muscle" than I like. The pinch (prong) collar is more like power steering.

Let the dog where a short leash attached to the collar, when you're in the house with him.
