Aggressive 2 year old Retriever

I just got a 2 year old retriever. Came from a good home with 2 other small dogs. The problem is that he hates my 1 year old retriever. As in hate, I mean that any time he comes near him, he growls and lunges at him and would attack him if we didn't keep a tight hold on the leash. We want to keep this dog because he's so calm otherwise and loves people. We just don't know what to do to get him to like our other dog. Any suggestions? I thought about getting a muzzle but didn't think that would solve the problem. If one dog is in the house, the other has to be outside...

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
