Aggresive Chihuahua/Jack Ruseel mix

Our 3 year mix named Ace has recently started growling at us while he is sitting next to us on the couch. I don't have young children, but still, this is something we want to discourage. We recently had our older Bassett hound put down from cancer. Right now we have a one year cat and an 8 year old rat terrier. This behavior has been happening since Dripples (the Bassett hound) has been gone. Please we need your help, I love all my animals and I just want to understand why this behavior is happening. Yes, Ace is aggressive with the cat and other dog. I feed all the animals separately as well in Kennels.

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
