7 week Chihuahua pup bit and drew blood.

by Magbelieves

I got my pup at exactly 6 weeks of age. After a few days he started nipping and now after 10 days of caring for him he's rarely calm when I'm holding him. He's like a maniac with the jumping, nipping and now full blown biting. I put chew toys in his mouth or blankets and even treat bones and sometimes he accepts them but often times he won't and just struggles with trying to eat my hand, fingers and arms. I felt myself get very angry with him this afternoon for the first time when his tooth hung into my finger and really hurt. He's so little at 2 pounds to be such a terror. I don't know what to do. I have read so many articles and know he left his mom too soon but such is the situation. Is there anything I can hope for to have a "normal" puppy? I don't want a dysfunctional dog. I have a well behaved 3 year old lab mix and 2 Tabby cats. They are all fine with the new guy but I am not. Please someone help!

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
