Don't neuter your puppy so early!!
by: Anonymous

Hi, I know you're doing the best you can as a caring owner- but please don't neuter your puppy before 1-year-old. Neutering too early is okay on smaller breeds but not safe for larger breeds- he's not done growing. Neutering now will harm his joints. Your quick thinking saved your puppy, but he received trauma from the gsd dog- and as an owner you failed in defending him, and now he thinks he has to take over and be the protector. The training class you take him too is the best way to give your dog the confidence it needs in a safe & controlled environment. However, as a dog owner please increase your awareness and knowledge of your breed..your gsd is as top of the line smart as it gets, don't rush for results...trauma takes time to overcome. Teach him confidence through nose work, agility training, take him on new adventures- sightseeing with controlled/unleashed environments where he can run around and not be around dogs as well as mastering placed sitting command. Neutering works as a last result, and only when you've done everything else.

You have a leadership issue
by: Adam G. Katz

You have a leadership issue.

And you're making the assumption that he "knows" he's doing something wrong. Which is debatable. But even if he does... it begs the question: He knows it's wrong, but he looks you in the eye and does it, anyway?

You need to establish yourself as the pack leader and start the Nothing In Life Is Free Program, You should also correct him for the aggression with either the pinch collar or the e-collar.

What you're currently doing is simply not a motivational way to correct the dog.

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
