We have a 2 year old cockapoo and a 4 year old westie
We bought the cockapoo after our golden retriever died and our westie just missed him so much we bought the new pup as a new friend.
The westie was less than pleased for some time as he was used to being the young pup to the golden and the new Puppie was not his best friend!
The cockapoo loved the westie though and in the most they became friends. A couple of months ago the cockapoo went for the westie really aggressively and my partner had to separate them. It was really viscous and quite scary.
On searching the internet people suggested that the cockapoo was try to ascert his dominance so I started making sure he was fed last always entered the house after the westie etc. This seemed to calm this down but this evening whilst my kids were playing hide and seek with the cockapoo he suddenly went for the westie again. It was so bad he has ripped the westies ear and there are definite teeth marks.
I am frightened it will happen again or he will go for my kids (12&15) although they both assure me he is dead soppy and wouldn't hurt them.
I would welcome any advice please .
